| Gender equality bodies 
 
 Legislation in Estonia, Sweden, Finland and Norway regulates gender equality in the labor market and education and the mechanisms for protection against gender-based discrimination. The role of the gender equality bodies in these countries is to monitor the compliance of practices, initiatives for legislative amendments and governmental policies with the principle for gender equality, implemented by the national legislation, as well as to give opinions or decide on private complaints for sex discrimination.
