At its session on 26 October 2006 the Government decided on Bulgaria’s candidates for members of the EU institutions as a result of a lot of consultations conducted both within the government and the National Association of Municipalities, the Social and Economic Council and other institutions and professional circles.

Brussels approved the nomination of the Minister of European Affairs Meglena Kuneva. She will be the future EU Commissioner Consumer Protection.
